Routine, Is That You?

on July 27, 2013

Okay, I know it’s early days. In fact it’s only the second day of this… pattern, perhaps that’s a better word. And I am no way taking it as the new regime, the future forever. In fact with daddy due to be at home for the weekend it’ll probably be over tomorrow!

This is the second day of feed, play, nap!

And I haven’t tried to enforce it!

I like it though. Only for true day time though.

Back on a 3 hour feeding schedule after the hiccup a few days ago, Elvis literally fell into this new pattern yesterday. During true day time, he feeds, wakes up from a dozing and plays before getting grouchy and needing a nap. This clearly happens when he’s been overstimulated and just needs some cuddle time before giving in.

Twice on these naps I’ve even put him down and he’s continued sleeping!

Even better, during our playtime there has been singing time (where he lies on the floor kicking and punching as I sing), tummy time (sometimes naked, sometimes with singing) and then some lone playing (either under a gym or not) where I get to do a few things like chores.

Elvis is now far happier being alone and with or without toys for longer. He’s also happier doing tummy time – he’s always been good, now he’s happier. His hands are opening more. If he’s not distracted, E’ll move his head to his chime ball or jingle elephant. He does this on tummy time, too. He now loves sitting on my leg or in my lap, upright with aid!

All of these have happened within the past week. It’s all pretty fascinating and if I forget to put it in my diary, I have this record.

Proof that not all days are bad. Just as many of you other mummies have said multiple times in response to my blogs. Well, today (so far) has been a good day. As was yesterday.

And the heatwave has cooled!

I can do this 🙂
