Family Day Trip: Royal Armouries

on April 26, 2014

Hubby is seemingly obsessed with his new car so the other day, when he got bored, he suggested a road trip and we ended up at some nearby Royal Armouries. We took our sling, which we have had since birth, but never used and then found out that entry was free!

Elvis is in a stage where all he wants to do is crawl; he isn’t too happy when he doesn’t have his freedom. So I was curious how he would cope being stuck on my hip. He was absolutely, perfectly fine. Possibly because he was close to me with he ability to move around slightly.

We wandered around the inside and the huge giant weapons, hubby was actually interested in reading about them all, then we headed outside and climbed the wall which protects our city from the rest of the country. I liked pretending that it was The Wall, protecting the realm from the White Walkers.

Then we walked through the long tunnels which cut through the hill and have limited lighting. Elvis didn’t even question the darkness as he was perched on my hip. I think we both enjoyed using the sling – it certainly takes the weight from my arms!

As we were leaving (on our way to buy a new car seat) we settled on what collectables we’re going to get for Elvis. Hubby and I collect spoons from eveywhere that we visit, more countries and towns rather than exact locations, so we decided on pinbadges for Elvis. Which we are putting on a canvas to hang on his bedroom wall.

Once he’s more mobile, we will be heading back as Elvis will love running on the Parade Ground!
